The school board’s role is governance and accountability. That means setting clear goals, monitoring progress, and ensuring the district’s strategic plan is producing measurable results. As a board member, I will ensure the district regularly reports student growth data and that resources are aligned with improving academic outcomes.

“Students First” means recognizing that learning does not happen in isolation. Students need safe schools, access to mental health resources, supportive educators, and stable learning environments. I will support policies that ensure students have the academic, emotional, and physical support systems necessary to thrive.

School board members are responsible for overseeing district finances. I will advocate for transparent budgeting practices that prioritize classroom learning, teacher support, and student services. Every dollar should support our mission of improving educational outcomes for Detroit students.

“City Forward” means recognizing that strong schools are essential to a strong Detroit. When our students succeed, our neighborhoods grow stronger and our city’s future becomes brighter. My goal is to ensure our schools are engines of opportunity for every student and every community in Detroit.
